-Gwen Stefani of No Doubt, Gavin's girlfriend, is on the cover of the UK's Melody Maker magazine (Sep. 20-26) where she speaks about him in the interview. An excerpt:

Or perhaps Gwen was off-balanced by a relationship that seems more on-and-off than Liam Gallagher at a Portugese rock-throwing contest.

There has been lots of speculation about you and Gavin...
"I know!" she shrieks, bouncing in her seat. "It's such a joke! It's playground. There's been ups and downs like everybody and there's been times when we've broken up and that didn't work, so we tried getting back together. The weird part is to see pictures of him with other people and things saying, 'Gavin with this girl!', but nobody really knows what's going on except me and him. I want to keep that one thing for myself. Gavin's not really like that. He thinks it's so cute to have pictures together and this and that and I guess I've gotten more comfortable with it. But I feel like I'm cheapening it by doing that. And we never know exactly what's going on with us, so why should everyone else know?"

Whenever I've seen him, he's always been taking a shitty stick to his hordes of admirers. "Poor thing," Gwen smiles affectionately, "he was just blessed with this amazing... he's cute, y'know what I mean? I never wanted to go for the cute boys. Why would you wanna have a boyfriend that's cuter than you are? But with us, we're trying to find a way like everybody else. We live in two different countries, we have the same life, but we're in different places all the time. It's the long-distance thing. Our relationship is all about the hope of the future, rather than the here and now. It's all, 'Well, maybe I'll see you then and I miss you so much.' It's all about yearning. He's at my house at the moment and we're having a really fun time right now, but he's leaving, you're taking him away. He's going back to London to write."

So we can say that it's on at the moment?
She shrugs secretively, "You can say it, but who knows if it'll be true when your magazine comes out."

-Also, in the magazine, are the magazine's picks of Sexiest People in Rock. Gavin was voted number six as Sexiest Bloke 2000.

-Last night, VH1's Storytellers featuring No Doubt was premiered. After they performed "Ex-girlfriend," Gwen said the following about the lyric in the song she sings "you say you're gonna burn before you mellow": "Hey! Hey! I forgot something I wanted to say. There's a line in the song that I totally ripped off from a Bush song. That band Bush, do you know that band? There's a line where that guy, Gavin Rossdale, is that his name? He says something about 'burning before I mellow,' which that song always got to me; that word, that lyric, I always hated that lyric. It always really pissed me off, and, um, so I just took it, and I turned it right around. Credit where credit's due!"
Gavin was supposedly in the audience during the show.

-There was a commercial that was aired tonight during the MTV Video Music Awards for the show MTV Cribs that gives an inside look into the homes of celebrities. In an upcoming episode, Gavin Rossdale's home is scheduled to be visited. The season premiere is on October 5 (this is not the episode Gavin is appearing, though).

-From nme.com:
BUSH NEW ALBUM WHACKED OUT SOON
Bush - Burning to get that new record out

BUSH frontman GAVIN ROSSDALE has exclusively revealed to nme.com that he has a fortnight left to finish writing the band's new album.
Speaking during a brief lull in writing the album to carry out promotional duties for the single he has collaborated on with DJ and dance guru Jeremy Healy for the 'Bleachin' project, he said that Bush plan to start recording their next album in England by the end of the year, and said they were on the verge of signing a new UK record deal.
He said: "I've got to finish writing all the songs by October 9 because then we have to start rehearsing and then record it. I've got about 10 or 12 songs written. I need to write another four or five more, I want to write quite a few more. I've demoed a lot already."
And he indicated that the next record will be more optimistic than Bush's earlier material. He said: "I can't write another torturing myself, or of tortured music. The songs are much more of a celebration, acceptance. It just has to be dramatic enough, that's just what it has to be. I've got some really good tracks coming. I wrote a couple of good songs [yesterday]… and I feel great." He added that he decided that this album would lay to rest difficulties the band have had with UK labels in the past. "A lot of the personnel has changed. Not within the band, just backroom stuff, the people that get your record out, get it together and help you."
While the title of the album has been decided, he declined to reveal it, saying: "I have an album title, and I have a few song titles, but I don't want to say what they are just yet. I can't tell you about it yet, because I won't shut up about it at the right time.
"I'm having meetings about the artwork, I wanted that to evolve simultaneously."
Speaking about his collapse after a gig earlier this year in the US, Gavin said: "I've just been on tour so much that I collapsed from exhaustion and stuff. We'd been on tour and had mainly a brilliant time. But there's a couple of bad things that happened that have made the news."
He also revealed that he was dismayed that the band didn't play any of the British festivals this summer. "I was pissed off, we should've played festivals in England. There was issues holding us out. If it were up to me, I would've done anything. If you play at night in the dark [at festivals] that's the best slot, but if you don't, it doesn't matter."
Speaking of his collaboration with old friend Jeremy Healy and his 'Bleachin' cohort , vocalist Amos - who reworked the track 'Come Down' from Bush's album 'Sixteen Stone', he said: "I don't really know how that came about! I just supplied a song. There were no restrictions on what they could do. I was happy for them to have a go at anything."
Gavin refuted rumours that he was in line to play the role of Jim Morrison in a forthcoming movie about The Doors, which were fuelled further after the band played a cover of 'Break On Through' at their London Shepherd's Bush Empire gig during the summer. But he admitted that he would love to act should the right role present itself.

-From nme.com:
BUSH have revealed that their new manager is IRVING AZOFF, the man behind THE EAGLES. Gavin Rossdale, frontman with the multi-million-selling rockers, told nme.com last week that there had been changes behind the scenes in the Bush camp, and it has now emerged that they have amicably parted ways with their former manager Dave Dorrell - a former Number One star himself in his incarnation as M/A/R/R/S, whose 'Pump Up The Volume' topped the UK charts in 1987.
Dorrell, who had managed the band through the eight-year career which has seen them soar to fame in the States and sell 15 million albums, is believed to have grown weary of a long-running legal wrangle between the band and their US label Interscope, from whose contract they want to be released.
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the band said that Azoff plans to set up a UK office and focus on helping Bush repeat their American success in their native Britain. Rossdale indicated last week that they are close to signing a UK deal and hope to have their new album completed by Christmas.

-From Dotmusic:
Bush's Gavin Rossdale Goes Dance
Bush's frontman and guitarist Gavin Rosdale has teamed up with Jeremy Healy and Amos for a cutting-edge electronic reworking of the band's classic track 'Come Down'.
The re-recorded version of the song, which originally featured on Bush's multi-platinum debut album 'Sixteen Stone', has been re-titled 'Comin' Down' and is part of the dance DJs Bleachin project.
'Comin' Down' will be released as a single on October 23rd through Boilerhouse/BMG and also features on the recent Bleachin concept album 'Everyone Loves You Everythings Free'.
Healy and Amos' long-player was recorded as a musical journey through the highs and lows of club culture and the selected track is a good example of how they've managed to successfully combine rock and dance music.
-BUSH NIPPLE NOT GROSS!
Now that Bush's The Science of Things (Trauma/UMG) has hit the shelves, I can finally make sense of something Gavin Rossdale was going on about when the band visited for promo some weeks back. The artwork features different images for each song, with "English Fire" illustrated by a strip of photographs of a man and woman's torsos, alternately facing toward and away from each other.
What you see is not what the band intended, however. Inspired by the British art team Gilbert&George, the montage was originally designed with a naked woman, a no-no in the U.S.A. "We worked really hard on our artwork," explained Gavin. "It's a beautiful picture, but a major distributor wouldn't stock it because of a nipple showing. It wasn't some kind of gross, sexual shot. Of course, this same store sells guns. It's just an example of how ridiculous life is."
The offending nipple has been covered with a digital bikini top. Bush's contest winners-only show in December will be followed by an arena appearance in the new year. (LL)
