-Nigel is quoted about the Napster controversy in the lastest issue of Spin
magazine (Volume 16/Number 9):
"I agree with Clarke- the distribution of information should be free. In
a perfect world everything would be free and everybody would be equal. This,
however, is not a perfect world and an analogy between witch-burning and
copyright control seems extreme. The music business is a scummy place, but
the money made by a few records funds the many others made each year. With
no copyright control, records would only be made by the few bands that seel
the most - a very uncreative future."
<<Article by Greg Milner entitled "Anarchy
from the U.K."
(FYI: By "Clarke" Nigel is refering to Irish, wiz-kid Ian Clarke creator
of Freenet, the most powerful file swapping software in the world. This software
allows for the free transfer of nearly every type of computer file to any
computer. Clarke has become a controversial proponent of the freedom to disperse
information regardless of copyright concerns.) [thanks

THREE DOORS DOWN: Actually, we've met Bush briefly and met Stone Temple Pilots
we met Creed; we used to cover some Creed songs, so that's pretty
amazing to meet those people. But when you meet them, it's usually nice to

-From
Dotmusic:
Bush's Gavin Rossdale Goes Dance
Bush's frontman and guitarist Gavin Rosdale has teamed up with Jeremy Healy
and Amos for a cutting-edge electronic reworking of the band's classic track
'Come Down'.
The re-recorded version of the song, which originally featured on Bush's
multi-platinum debut album 'Sixteen Stone', has been re-titled 'Comin' Down'
and is part of the dance DJs Bleachin project.
'Comin' Down' will be released as a single on October 23rd through
Boilerhouse/BMG and also features on the recent Bleachin concept album 'Everyone
Loves You Everythings Free'.
Healy and Amos' long-player was recorded as a musical journey through the
highs and lows of club culture and the selected track is a good example of
how they've managed to successfully combine rock and dance music.
-BUSH NIPPLE NOT GROSS!
Now that Bush's The Science of Things (Trauma/UMG) has hit the shelves,
I can finally make sense of something Gavin Rossdale was going on about when
the band visited for promo some weeks back. The artwork features different
images for each song, with "English Fire" illustrated by a strip of photographs
of a man and woman's torsos, alternately facing toward and away from each
other.
What you see is not what the band intended, however. Inspired by the British
art team Gilbert&George, the montage was originally designed with a naked
woman, a no-no in the U.S.A. "We worked really hard on our artwork," explained
Gavin. "It's a beautiful picture, but a major distributor wouldn't stock
it because of a nipple showing. It wasn't some kind of gross, sexual shot.
Of course, this same store sells guns. It's just an example of how ridiculous
life is."
The offending nipple has been covered with a digital bikini top. Bush's contest
winners-only show in December will be followed by an arena appearance in
the new year. (LL)

-AZOFF GETS SOME BUSH: Rockers Bush, signed to troubled Trauma Records,
which is facing closure, has fired longtime manager David Dorrell and has
hooked up with the Eagles and Don Henley manager Irving Azoff, according
to Allstarmag.com. Sources said Trauma principals Rob Kahane and Paul Palmer
have been shopping Bush's label deal for the past couple of weeks. The band's
signing with Azoff management has sparked questions as to whether the group
will now sign to the long-time industry player's Giant/Revolution label,
which is housed at Warner Bros.

-The Sun, a British tabloid paper, has send rumors
flying about Andrea Corr (from the Irish pop band, The Corrs) and Gavin starting
a relationship with one another. Though this is a personal life situation,
a spokesperson for The Corrs describes the rumours as "absolute nonsense."
He added: "There's no truth in the reports whatsoever. We don't know where
it came from, but Andrea's not seeing him. It's just absolute nonsense."

-From
LAtimes.com:
THE REAL WORLD: Pop musicians are often happy to have the comforts
of home after months on the road. But for Bush singer Gavin Rossdale, there
was extra appreciation when he returned to his London home last week. After
playing a round of European festival dates in recent months and then finishing
the band's tour in South Africa, Rossdale capped all that off with a week
in Tanzania to witness the ravages of poverty, famine and AIDS.
The rocker took the trip on behalf of Jubilee 2000, the organization seeking forgiveness of massive Third World debts to Western countries so the poorer nations can get their economies on solid ground. The journey will be chronicled in a fall issue of the British magazine Marie Claire.
"Looking outside my window looks pretty good," said Rossdale, calling from London. "Things in [England] are not so good on a political level, with national health and welfare and many other problems. But nothing prepares you for the situation in Africa."
Now Rossdale is coming for a stay in Los Angeles (home of his longtime girlfriend, No Doubt's Gwen Stefani), where he plans to write and record demos of songs for Bush's fourth album. Tentative plans are to start recording in England in October, with a release possible in early 2001. But while he's planning to continue Jubilee activity with such efforts as writing to British Prime Minister Tony Blair and other leaders on a regular basis, he's not sure how or if the Tanzania experience will be reflected in his new songs.
"Everything has an impact on my writing, and that was definitely one of the most extreme situations I've put myself in," he said. "I don't want to make it that contrived--the stuff I've sung about and written about seems to just be about enjoying being alive."
