Now, The Moment We Have Been Waiting For...BUSH!

We shifted nervously. We were anxious. Damn it, we were pumped and ready to go! Chants shot up through the audience: "We Want BUSH!" "BUSH! BUSH! BUSH!" As I said, ask and you shall receive...

The lights went down, and there he was...spotlight behind the man with the striking guitar riffs, bald head and all. The shadow of Nigel, our first piece of true BUSH that night. I screamed. We all did. I could hardly believe what I was seeing, I almost felt like crying. Unlike my first show, I contained myself and held back my emotions. Nigel was messing with the guitar (the angel one!) and then, there they came...Robin stood behind the drums, Nigel took his place on the left side of the stage, Dave retrieved his bass, stood at the right, and Gavin walked on, gave his famous wave/salute to the adoring audience, strapped on his Fender, and the guys were ready to go...

Ahh, the famous familiar chords of "Machinehead" broke into the air and the pogoing, moshing, crowdsurfing, just plain insanity began! Where I began as five feet directly in front of Gavin ended in in the third row in front of Nigel by the blaring speakers as I lost my younger brother. It didn't matter. In my opinion, it was the best seat in the whole venue. It was complete euphoria. I was going deaf, but I knew anything was worth the moment. The guys played so incredibly well and were in a great mood!!! Gavin spoke to the audience a bit ("New York City makes me crazy, maaaan!") and totally taunted us. He performed his famous speaker-jumping bit (I was right below him- picture coming soon) and shaking hands with the VIP audience on the balcony. Nigel was smiling at us the whole show, and all of the BUSH men were singing along, having a good time! Dave came over to Nigel's territory a few times and was doing his famous bobbing. He got a hair cut and did gain a little bit of weight, looks great! Nigel looks pretty much the same; Gavin has shorter hair, blondish-orangish-brownish, looks good. He was wearing grey cargos and a black Buddha tank (then took it off); Robin's black curls were streaked bright red. He was shirtless as usual and was so pumped up!

During "Everything Zen" Gavin did his "I was born in this town, I've lived here my whole life...putting out the fire with kerosene" bit, "Glycerine"'s "Ooooh my Glycerine" and "Little Things'" "If you let them they will kill you stone cold." It was BUSH just like the good old days. But of course, they played their new stuff! BUSH fans: don't be nervous about the new album's (due out on Oct 26) quality. It is pure brilliance! I heard it again the next night on the radio for Woodstock, and it is so great! It's honest, raw rock with some electronic textures. You will love it, you will!

The setlist: "Machinehead," "Personal Holloway," "Chemicals Between Us," "Greedy Fly," "Warm Machine," "Everything Zen," "Insect Kin," "F*cking Up," "Space Travel," "40 Miles From The Sun," "Glycerine," "Disease of the Dancing Cats," "Comedown," -- "Swallowed," "The One I Love," "Little Things."

The band closed with "Little Things" as always, and left the stage after throwing guitar picks, strings, and drumsticks into the crowd. It was all over...

Pictures are coming soon!  If you  have any that you would like to submit, please email them, thank you.
