Anticipation Arises

...and has not stopped.

"An Anticipated Arrival"

By Angie Sweeney

With the long, frequent delays of  Bush's third release, The Science of Things, answers start to unravel the many mysteries surrounding the album. Now that is Bush being sued for a possible, whopping 40 million dollars for breach of contract, it makes me begin to wonder if this album will ever be released.

Anticipation derives from inside me as I sit silently by the radio, awaiting any news about an exact release date and/or a new single from the record. It's been a long time since I've heard anything from the small "Bush community" I live in, and now as news pours in about this album and the Bush boys, I find myself feeling something I haven't felt in a long time. It's that feeling you get when you see Bush live, you know the feeling, right? And if you don't, I'm sure you can imagine it.

It's that feeling that just gets your heart beating faster and your mind racing as your body fills with energy and passion for the band. The feeling you get when you see them on TV and long for a blank tape and a VCR to record with, the feeling when you hear them on the radio, or read new news in a magazine or newspaper.

I sit and begin to wonder, what will this CD sound like? I've tried to think of ideas by thoroughly listening to their two previous CDs and remix record, Deconstructed.  No one knows what the record sounds like, even the record company, since they are almost bitterly awaiting the arrival.  I use bitter because otherwise they probably wouldn't be in such a rush to sue the band, eh? :)

What are they planning on giving us, "the best fans in the world," that will completely blow us away? Gavin has said that the world won't be able to function without this record, and he's right -- if I don't get my Bush, and soon, I may not be able to function at all!

"I feel just like a child awaiting Christmas Eve, only my excitement is over something much smaller, something that isn't a national holiday (though in my opinion it should be =P), and something that can help a person connect with. My excitement is over the upcoming Bush album, The Science of Things.

With a very long year of anticipation and antagonizing waiting for fans, Bush have found something they like and are almost ready to share their work with the rest of the world.

What will this album sound like? The question has been asked thousands upon thousands of times, though it still remains unanswered. Will it be more like Sixteen Stone with the raging guitar licks and hard rock sounds; Mellow, calm, and comforting like Razorblade Suitcase; or even daring, upbeat, and techno like Deconstructed? The question still lingers, waiting to be solved.

The exact release date of the album is still unknown. It was thought to be sometime in February to March, but rumor has it, the date has been pushed back until May.

Bush fans will just have to remain patient until the band members themselves release the information. Besides, the longer the wait, the better the outcome, right?"
